About Your Presenter
Adam James, Ryder Architecture.
Adam James, along with Warren Schmidt, opened Ryder Architecture in Vancouver in 2017, following 10 years of collaboration in architectural practice. Ryder was established in Newcastle Upon Tyne in the UK in 1953, and has grown to include offices in Vancouver, London, Liverpool, Glasgow, Hong Kong and Amsterdam.
As a native of Newcastle, Adam has numerous connections with the original Ryder office. The launch of Ryder locally was made possible by these familiar connections, through long-standing personal and professional relationships, and by the ethos of design and collaborative working shared by Adam, Warren, and the wider Ryder partnership.
Before this, Adam worked for a variety of architecture practices and developers in the UK, New Zealand, and Australia, serving in a variety of roles including Project Lead, Project Manager, and Owner’s Representative. Originally from Newcastle, UK, Adam has resided in Canada since 2006. Adam is a long-time advocate of a high performance, Passive House approach to design and construction and is a Certified Passive House Designer.
