How do we achieve the wisest outcomes for our region?

Panel will talk about how urban planning , landscape architecture, and allied professions can serve local governments to address the complex mix of issues facing people (climate change, affordable housing, immigration, polarized discourse, decolonizing, and reconciliation).

Cohesive planning for cities and regions (one of the most important conversations under the new professional governance legislation) can breathe new life into the roles and responsibilities consultants play in shaping our rapidly growing communities.

Things to ponder

  • A values-driven planning approach (urban land + public benefit)
  • A framework of certainty for sustainable growth in our region (project examples)
  • Reconciling speculative growth with need for clearly articulated planning
  • A culture of collaboration between public and private sector
  • A pathway to stewardship reconciled with indigenous ways

How do consultants serve municipalities to achieve more definitive plans?
